Shiplap Wall

The wall behind my dining room table was in need of an upgrade and it seemed like the perfect spot for a feature wall. Many years ago, I built the three mirrors that have been hanging there since I first moved into the house and it was time for a change.

I started by adding thin strips of plywood to the wall to nail the boards into since I was going to be hanging the plywood vertically and not every board would be over a stud. I sampled four blue/grey paint colors and then began hanging my boards. I had to measure and cut each board individually, as my ceiling isn’t completely straight, but the install was easy and went pretty quickly.

I had to reconfigure the light switch and outlet on the wall to account for the added depth of the boards. Once I did that, I was able to fill my nail holes, caulk and paint everything. That process took me several days, as I worked in the evenings after work to finish. The final step was to hang some of my favorite photos of my favorite babies and call it done. This project completely changed the look and feel of my dining and living room. I love how it turned out and would do it all again!
